A Hauntingly Magical Celebration

Well, it's here, Ms Vanessa's super-superb Halloween party. I have to say, I just don't know how that woman does it! She is the most creative person that I know! I have been anticipating her party since I first found out about it, but the move and the other-thing-that-will-not-be named happened, well, my cup is running over, and not in a good way. Sadly, Halloween is my favorite time of the year and yet, somehow, this has turned out to be the worst time of year for me and my family. I'm not quite up to discussing the whole sordid tale, but please send a little good magic our way, we could really use it right now.

Now, for the celebration. As you might remember, we moved about two weeks ago, so my decoration for the last few weeks has consisted of unpacking boxes and searching for my deodorant!! So, I'm going with something a little different today. Last year, at this time of year, I had been reminded of a story, a record actually, that my 3rd grade teacher would play for us. After searching all over the web, I ran across a group on Shelfari that were able to pass the written words on to me. And I would like to share that cute little story with you now, along with some pictures that I felt added a little interest to the story.

Enjoy!

In a Dark Dark Wood

In a dark, dark wood there was a dark, dark house;
And in the dark, dark house there was a dark, dark room;
And in the dark, dark room there was a dark, dark cupboard;
And in the dark, dark cupboard there was a dark, dark shelf;
And on the dark, dark shelf there was a dark, dark box; And in the dark, dark box there was a....ghost!

And on the dark, dark shelf there was a dark, dark box; And in the dark, dark box there was a....mouse!

I hope you have enjoyed this fun little tale. I hope you come back soon, as we are planning on taking the kids to Boo at the Zoo in Birmingham tomorrow night! The weather has turned chilly and I'm hoping that the rain doesn't show. I've already made my first pot of chili for the season!
