Baby Stuff

Things are kinda crazy around here. On Thursday, Gracyn had her first doctor visit & they said she had jaundice. So they told us to stop breastfeeding her & use formula. I didn't think it sound right but hubby was determined to get her better. Then on Friday, we went for another blood test while we were in Mobile but the lab never sent it over to the doctor in Tallahassee. Both of us were pretty aggravated at this point , so I just started breastfeeding her again. But in all the changes, it must have upset her little system because by Sunday night at 1 am, Charlie & I had to run to the drug store because she seemed to be spitting up but wasn't getting it all out & looked like she was choking on it. On Monday night at 1 am, I was back at the drug store buying suppositories because she still hadn't had a bowel movement. And at this point I am asking myself did I really want to go through all this again at my age? Of course, you know the answer to that!!
But I'm happy to say that last night, Charlie & I actually got to snuggle in bed together for the first time since having her!!
Both Gracyn & I have doctors appointments tomorrow. Her two week visit & my checkup after the birth. I'm a little worried, I feel like I'm bleeding too much. But hopefully, everything will be alright. Keep us in your prayers :0)

She's a doll. Hang in there! She'll smiling at you and googling at you in no time at all!
Give that baby a hug from me!

Hi!

Congratulations on your new baby! I was shocked when I read that you had a Dr. tell you to stop breastfeeding! So many Drs know that it is soooo healthy for our babies.

My little Isabella was a bit early (a month early after 21 weeks on bedrest) and she had jaundice-pretty bad and her Dr told me to make sure I continue to breastfeed-all the way though-making sure I consume tons of liquids. I did and I'm still breastfeeding and she is 100 percent better. I hope you trust your instincts and do what you feel as a mother you should do. So many Drs are either for or strongly against breastfeeding. I think the ones againsts get commission off of formula...(Haha).

My Isabella is 10 weeks old, strong, heavy, growing like she should and she's not been on a bottle yet. And I'm so happy to nurse her. Isn't it a wonderful experience? And it only lasts for a short while..then it's gone.

I hope this helps and good luck with that doctor. It wouldn't hurt to shop around...different doctors offer different advice and care.
